We want to alert clients to a potential scam targeting businesses regarding SAM registration renewals. The fraudulent email appears to come from the Federal Service Desk (support@federalservicedesk.com) with the subject line “SAM Registration Renewal Guide Notification.” It includes legitimate SAM registration details but promotes a $99 “SAM Quick Start Registration Guide” through a misleading hyperlink (see screenshot below).
While the email contains a link to the official SAM.gov website, it also directs recipients to an external website, System for Award Management Center, which improperly uses the SAM logo and branding to appear legitimate.
We strongly encourage clients to not to click any links or make payments in response to such emails. SAM registration and renewal are:
- Always free at SAM.gov
- Never communicated through a “.com” URL.
- Will never require payment for a guide or assistance.
